Government Loans
Do you qualify
for government home loans? There are three Government agencies that
offer Federal Government backed residential home loans:
Federal Housing Administration (FHA) Loans:
FHA offers
mortgage loans to homebuyers and requires only a minimal down payment (3
to 5%). The maximum FHA government loan amount is based on the average
cost of living in a specific region - perfect credit is not required. To
qualify for FHA government home loans, your debt-to-income ratio cannot
exceed 41% and the homes selling in the city or town in question should
not sell for more than $180,000.
U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Loans:
VA offers home government loans to qualified veterans. Qualifying VA
government loan candidates can borrow up to $203,000 with no down
payment required. In addition to home purchases, VA government loans can
be used to make both home improvements as well as to refinance an
existing mortgage loan. (continued below)
Rural Housing Services (RHS):
RHS offers low interest rate home mortgage loans to people with low or
moderate income and who live in small towns or rural areas. Contact
Rural Housing Services to see if you qualify for RHS government loans.
